Rachmaninoff: All-Night Vigil

  • Smith Square Hall London SW1P 3HA (map)

Sink into Sergei Rachmaninoff’s rich liturgical masterpiece.

The Purcell Singers are privileged to be celebrating Holy Week at Smith Square Hall with Rachmaninoff’s iconic 1915 All-Night Vigil. Incorporating Melodie’s from traditional chants and Rachmaninoff’s expressive and expansive style, it is one of the composer’s best-loved works.

Throughout its fifteen movements, it resonates deeply and globally with Christians, the spiritual, and those searching for answers.

Originally presented in a series of three services lasting from Saturday evening through to Sunday morning, we can now enjoy this glorious music in a single hour-long concert.
