ACT - A Common Territory - project

The Purcell Singers were delighted to be invited to be one of thirteen partners in ACT - a European Cultural Network, and a 3-year project led by l'Orchestre de Picardie, and eleven other partners from South East England and Northern France.

Thanks to the support of match funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Orchestre de Picardie developed a programme of events over three years including 46 performances and 11 major cultural events.

These activities were chosen to especially benefit young audiences in England and France, developing a passion for music, dance and theatre.

The ERDF's INTERREG programme encourages cross-border cooperation between cultural institutions, and the 13 organisations involved in the network will pool their financial, human and artistic resources to offer large-scale cultural projects to the inhabitants of the regions concerned.

The project runs from 2013 through to March 2015. The Purcell Singers' first concert was in November 2014 in Rouen, performances of Mendelssohn's Lobgesang. The second project is Mozart Requiem in Amiens, in March 2015.
